Morecambe’s own Stormers Elite are flipping their way to international fame, as they prepare to compete in the prestigious Summit Championships 2025 in Orlando, Florida. Founded by head coach Faye Winder in 2009, this dynamic cheerleading group has qualified in both under and over-16 categories, marking a significant milestone in their journey.

The road to Orlando has been paved with dedication and resilience. Assistant head coach Lauren Potter shares how narrowly missing out in previous years only fuelled their determination. Their hard work paid off at a qualifying competition in Blackpool, where they secured two of the coveted six team places available in the North West.

However, qualifying is just the beginning. The team faces the challenge of covering substantial costs, including travel, accommodation, and training expenses, amounting to around £2,000 per participant. Thankfully, the community has rallied around them, with Lancaster-based ICS Accounting leading the sponsorship efforts. Eight other sponsors have joined the cause, recognising the positive impact of supporting such an inspiring team.

Colin Thompson, Commercial Director at ICS Accounting, highlights the benefits of sponsorship beyond brand visibility. He emphasises the inclusivity, dedication, and achievement that Stormers Elite represent, making them a beacon of positivity and inspiration.

As the team prepares to fly out a week early to acclimatise and train, they are grateful for the unwavering support of their families and sponsors. For many, this trip marks their first overseas adventure, adding an extra layer of excitement to the journey.

Stormers Elite are not just representing Morecambe; they’re showcasing the spirit of cheerleading on an international stage. With their eyes set on bringing home a prize, the team is ready to make Morecambe proud.
