Lancaster’s art scene is about to be enriched with the arrival of Kate Eggleston-Wirtz’s “Curiosities” exhibition at King Street Arts. From April 16 to 26, art enthusiasts will have the chance to delve into the fascinating world of this award-winning artist, whose 3D sculptural work is renowned for its ability to captivate and intrigue.

Kate Eggleston-Wirtz, with over 40 years of artistic experience, brings a unique blend of storytelling and visual art to her creations. Her work, inspired by local history and vintage materials, invites viewers to engage with each piece through a lens of childlike curiosity. The more you explore, the more connections you’ll discover between the objects, each reflecting Kate’s distinctive style and international perspective.

Born and raised in America, Kate has called Lytham St Annes home for nearly three decades, with stints in Turkey and France enriching her artistic journey. Her background as a trained illustrator ensures that storytelling remains central to her practice, often accompanied by poetry and collage.

Visitors to the exhibition will not only have the opportunity to admire Kate’s sculptures but also explore her range of cards, poetry pamphlets, and prints, all of which are available for purchase. Adding to the excitement, Kate will be present at King Street Arts throughout the exhibition, leading two engaging workshops.

On April 17, participants can create their own decoupage flying pig mobile, while an identity keepsake box workshop is scheduled for April 26. Both workshops are open to those aged 18 and over, running from 6.30 to 9pm, with a fee of £30, including materials. Booking is essential via email or the King Street Studios website.

Admission to the “Curiosities” exhibition is free, with doors open daily from 11am to 5pm, excluding Easter Sunday. Don’t miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in the captivating world of Kate Eggleston-Wirtz at King Street Arts, 5A King Street.
