Lancashire Shoppers Spread Christmas Cheer

Lancashire’s generous shoppers have once again demonstrated the true spirit of Christmas by donating thousands of toys to children in need. Across the county, kind-hearted individuals responded enthusiastically to Tesco’s call for donations, contributing a remarkable 4,906 brand-new toys to local schools and organisations.

In East Lancashire, organisations such as Kids in Rossendale and The Hub – Padiham were among the grateful recipients of these thoughtful gifts. The initiative was spearheaded by dedicated staff at Tesco stores throughout Lancashire, who encouraged shoppers to participate in the toy collection drive. Their efforts ensured that children, who might otherwise miss out, could partake in the joy of festive celebrations.

Claire De Silva, head of communities at Tesco, expressed heartfelt gratitude, stating, “We really can’t thank our customers enough for their kind contributions to this great cause. Throughout the year, our stores give support to children and their community, and without fail, local people support us in our efforts.”

The campaign, which ran in December across the UK, saw over 125,000 items donated nationally. This overwhelming response highlights the enduring magic of Christmas, as the people of Lancashire came together to make a difference in the lives of many children.

In addition to the toy donations, Tesco generously contributed £25,000 to the Salvation Army, further supporting their ongoing efforts to provide essential services to vulnerable families during the festive season.

The beneficiaries of this heartwarming campaign included a variety of local organisations such as Blackpool Rotary Club, Cash for Kids – Mission Christmas, and Lancashire Young Carers, among others.

At Lancastrian Estates, we are proud to be part of such a caring community. We believe in the power of community spirit and are always here to help you find a home in a neighbourhood that shares these values.
